Yearly Physicals

As health care professionals in a demanding work force, we understand how easy it is to forget to take care of your own health. So we encourage our patients to take time out to get their yearly physicals. Most insurance carriers consider physicals as preventive care and will cover at 100 %. Don’t forget importance of your own health. A yearly physical examination is an evaluation of the body and its functions using inspection, palpation (feeling with the hands), percussion (tapping with the fingers), and auscultation (listening). A complete health assessment also includes gathering information about a person’s complete medical history and lifestyle by doing a series of laboratory tests as well as screening for disease.

The main purpose of a yearly physical is to perform a comprehensive physical examination that provides an opportunity for the health care professional to obtain baseline information about the patient for future use, and to establish a relationship before problems can occur. It provides an opportunity to answer questions and teach good health practices. Detecting a problem in its early stages can help prevent health issues and provide good long-term results.

School & College Physicals

The “sports physical” exams are known as a pre –participation physical exam (PPE). The exam helps determine whether it’s safe for you to participate in a particular sport. Most states require that children and young adults have a sports physical before they can start a new sport or begin a new competitive season.

Our Sport Physical is ONLY $15.00. The “school physical” is required by all students making their first entry into a Florida school. Parents or Guardians must present a record of a physical examination completed within 12 months. The exam record should be taken to the child’s school upon enrollment.

Although specific forms are not required, it is recommended that Florida’s standardized school entry form (DH 3040) be used to document the completion of a physical exam. The school may also require you to transfer the child’s shot record to a Florida form signed by a medical provider. Our office can provide this form if needed.

Immunizations & Vaccinations

Our facility provides Immunizations and Vaccinations for all ages. Vaccines are a preparation of a weakened or killed pathogen, such as a bacterium or virus, or of a portion of the pathogens that upon administration stimulates antibody production or cellular immunity against the pathogen, but is incapable of causing severe infection. These include the vaccinations needed for college, work, and nursing programs. We also do the blood work needed for proof of immunizations known as titers.

There is no need for you to see a specialist or wait for hours in the emergency room to have these minor surgeries performed.

Electrocardiogram

“ECG” or “EKG” are the acronyms more commonly used for this non-invasive procedure which records the electrical activity of the heart. An EKG is generally performed as part of a routine physical exam, pre surgical clearance, part of a cardiac exercise stress test, or part of an evaluation of symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting spells, and chest pain.

We recommend that every woman starting at the age of 45 have a Dexa Scan every two years. If you are younger than 40 years of age and have no known risk factors for Glaucoma, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) recommends that you have a complete eye exam every 5 to 10 years. This includes tests that check for Glaucoma. The AAO suggest more frequent eye exams as you age.

The purpose of this study is to slow down or reverse the processes of aging to extend both the maximum and average lifespan. The term is also associated with pharmacy compounding, blood saliva testing, and efforts to reach a targeted level of hormones in the body as established through blood saliva testing.

Ultrasound & Echocardiogram

Ultrasound is not limited to diagnosis, but can also be used in screening for disease and to aid in the treatment of diseases or conditions. An echocardiogram is a test that issues high frequency sound waves (Ultrasound) to create an image of heart. This will allow us to detect an enlarged heart, health of the heart valves, and overall cardiac functions.

Hearing Test (Audiometry)

Hearing testing is a means of evaluating an individual’s overall hearing function. The tests are used to determine if there is something wrong with the hearing. Audiometry looks at a portion of the inner ear. It is often used as an initial screen to decide if more expensive tests like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are needed. It is also used in conjunction with vestibular testing to diagnose specific disorders, such as Meniere’s disease. Finally, hearing tests can be used to decide if a hearing aid might be helpful.
